  1. WELCOME

    President, Kate Agosta welcomed everyone.

  2. ATTENDANCE

    Minutes of previous meeting – June 29, 2006 - Motion to accept – Barb D. , 2nd Hans N. - Accepted.

  4. TREASURER'S REPORT

    - Society balance is $2,624.13. Re-imbursements will be made to Joan Jackaman - $96.90 for a weed torch and to Lynda Rogers - $287.70 for township flowers. The new liability for board members is $391.50.

  5. COMMITTEE REPORTS

    • MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - Tina Stone, Pat Platt, Maud Featherstone

      An updated membership list is needed by the AGM on Monday November 27. Maud will look into creating one

    • SHOW AND JUDGING COMMITTEE - Barbara Downey

      Motion was made by John Lesey to award $0.15/point for this year’s entries. 2nd by Jill G. All amounts under $5.00 will receive a package of seeds..

    • PROGRAM & TRIP COMMITTEE - Carol Field, Sandra Kirby, Blair Day

      • Program for next years show books are needed by Feb. 1, 2007
      • Carol F. will look after getting a list of our 2006 speakers to Jim Anderson by Dec. 2006.

    • FLYER COMMITTEE - Kate Agosta

      150 more flyers are to be produced for the McMicheal Art Gallery display and the Lions Auction.  Kate will look after getting these printed.

    • GARDEN TOUR COMMITTEE - Maria Pedersen, John Lesey, Blair Day

      Change the date of the Garden Tour to July 15, 2007. Motion made by Maria P. 2nd by Barb D.

    • REFRESHMENT COMMITTEE - Jean Keane

    • PHONE COMMITTEE - Jill Gellatly

      An updated member list with phone numbers is still needed.

    • PLANT SALE - Kate Agosta, Barb Downey, Mary Watson, Blair Day

      • Plant sale is scheduled for October 21, 2006 at the Lions Auction.
      • Set up at 8:30 a.m. Barb has the tables and cash box. Kate has a canopy. Hans has more programs. Carol to take signs to Blair. Barb and Hans will take down.
      • Next plant sale will be at the Victoria Day Parade in Nobelton. New parade time of 11:00 a.m

    • VICTORIA DAY PARADE - John Lesey, Carol Field

    • VOLUNTEER HOURS COMMITTEE - Maud Featherstone

      Please give all hours to Maud. We have 706.5 hours so far. All hours are due by Feb. 28, 2007.

    • SHOW BOOK COMMITTEE - Barb Downey, Kate Agosta, Mary Watson

      • Program is needed by Feb. 1/07. Front cover decorative needs to be changed.
      • Ask and see if Nancy Hopkinson will proof read book.

    • PUBLICITY & ARCHIVES - Hans Neilson, John Arnott

      • We are looking for items to create a booklet to commemorate our 50th Anniversary.
      • Barb is to ask Gail about getting or borrowing Muriel's scrapbooks for our anniverary.
      • See if someone from the Historical Society or Archives would like to help.

    • MEETINGS & SET-UP - John Lesey, Blair Day

      • The high school student to help with setting up needs to be called to confirm dates.
      • The key now needs to be picked up from Dave and Jan Ball – 15 Lynwood, Nobelton.
      • Kate will ask for volunteers about helping with setting up.
      • The sound system has not been used – see if Daniel Day will show someone how to set it up.

    • FRONT YARD COMPETITION - Hans Neilson, Carol Fields, Blair Day

      • Kate, Sandra, Roz, Carol and Blair from Nobelton and Janet Orr and Linda Jessop from Schomberg went to see approx. 50 gardens for the competition
      • Due to the large number of gardens they are looking at a better way of doing it next year.
      • One idea was to use photos to narrow the entries and then go to judge the best entries.

    • SPECIAL PROJECTS - Blair Day, Lynda Rodgers

      • Please make sure volunteers are attending the various gardens in the township.
      • Lilac beds were raised.
      • Flower barrel to be removed at the Senior’s Centre.
      • Hosta bed needs to be weeded.

    • AWARDS COMMITTEE - Kate Agosta, Blair Day, Carol Field, Barb Downey, Hans Nielsen

      Blair is to look into getting nomination forms.

    • COMMUNITY IN BLOOMS - Lynda Rogers

      Lynda will not be chairing the Community in Blooms next year but will be on the committee.

  6. NEW BUSINESS

    1. Tree Plantings – 2 trees are being looked into for the Hill Farm Rd. location in Nobelton. The Township Parks Department needs the proper forms filled out for any trees planted. Lynda will talk to Catherine and get a preferred tree list. Kate will look into the BTN 50% off sale. Lynda will phone Joan Jackaman regarding the plaques.
    2. 2008 District 15 AGM is set for Sat. April 28, 2008. Locations being considered: Sheridan, St. Paul’s Pres. Church in Nobelton ($300.00) and the Nobleton Arena (upstairs roon and 2 conference rooms). Everyone liked the Nobleton Arena and seeing if Marcello’s could do the catering. Lynda will ask about the Arena cost. Motion was made by Jill and 2nd by Carol to ask Schomberg to help. Kate will phone the Schomberg president.
    3. November AGM set up will start at 10:00 a.m. Ask Amy, Nancy and Roz to see if they can help. Serena will send out invitations to the Mayor, Catherine Purcell, Gladys McLatchy, Mary Anne Merrit, Cards, Brenda Heenan and Mary Sasiela by Nov. 1/06. Kate to ask Tina to do the punch – Jill to ask Jeane about the turkey and barb to ask Mary Watson about the tea biscuits. Also needed are juice, tablecloths, butter and napkins. Serena will ask the 1st King Pathfinders to do the dishes. We will show the garden tour CD for entertainment. Ask members for door prizes.
    4. Ask members to take pictures of glads for next year.
    5. Annual Chrysanthemum Show – “A Walk in the Woods” Oct. 20-29/06 at Gage Park, Hamilton – 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. www.hamilton.ca/mumshow - 905-546-2424 x 4179
    6. Extra Trillium copies will be given to the Township Libraries.
