  1. ATTENDANCE

    Attending:    Brenda Heenan , Mary Sisiela, Mary Watson, John Arnott, Tina Stone, Sandra Kirby, Jill Gellatly, Micheal Blair Day, Joan Jackaman, Roz Elson, Kate Agosta, Barb Downey, and Maria Pedersen.

  2. CALL TO ORDER.

    After everyone served themselves the President called the meeting to order at 06:40. Since our guests, District 15 Director Brenda Heenan and Assistant Director Mary Sisiela had to leave early the agenda was ammended to allow them to speak first.

  3. TREASURER'S REPORT - Jules Maule-ffinch

    No treasurer’s report was filed.

  4. 2008 OHA Convention - Brenda Heenan

    Convention 2008 being held August 22- 24, 2008 at the Davis Campus of Sheridan College, 7899 McLaughlin Road in Brampton, Ontario. Our theme is SHARING OUR DIVERSITY. Coming along nicely. Speaker's list is made. Barbara and John A. have put together the cultural portion of the Flower Show.

  5. 2008 District 15 Convention - Brenda Heenan

    • 2008 District 15 meeting, April 26th at Seneca College Dufferin Street King City Campus.
    • Rental for 2 rooms and hall in ‘C’ pod is $350, which also includes set-up and cleanup.
    • Food service buffet salad, sandwiches, dessrt and beverages
    • There will be a fee for parking may be up to $4.50 .
    • Bolton Hort is arranging the morning refreshments.
    • Meeting to start 10am sharp.
    To Do List:
    • a.s.p. Speaker(s)
    • arrange for local vendors about 5 or 6 cost $35.00 per table.
    • Flower to be in place by 9.30am. Best in show and best cultural –People’s Choice not necessary. Help for flower show at least 3 people.
    • Need 4-6 people on registration. Helpers to unload flowers and marshals (would any of the scout troops be availabe?).
    • Information package to be ready by February 1, 2008.
    • Registration cheques are to be made payable to O.H.A. District 15.

  6. COMMITTEE REPORTS and ASSIGNMENTS

    • Archives - John Arnott, Barb Downey, Jules Maule-ffinch

      Still have to make contact with Gail Dalziel re; Muriel’s archives.

    • Awards - Barb Downey, Kate Agosta and past presidents

      Committee meeting to be held within the month.

    • Communities In Blooms - Lynda Rodgers, Joan Jackaman

      Joan has quit that board and this committee

    • Flower Shows - Kathy Ball, Barb Downey

      Kathy has to relinquish her position because of family responsibilities. Needto find another person. Barb will take responsibility for the rest of the year.

    • Fundraising - Roz Elson, Jules Maule-ffinch

      Roz said we’ve being making about #35.00 each meeting.

    • Garden Tour - Maria Pedersen, Jay Harding, Blair Day

      • A huge success made $950.00 Expenses were about $140.00 plus taxes.
      • Moved by Jill and seconded by Tina that $100.00 be given to Maria to help cover travel expenses. Carried.

    • Meeting and Set-up - Tina Stone

      Kate, Terry and Kathy has been doing this with occasional help.

    • Membership - Tina Stone, Maud Featherstone

      63 including life members. Need ideas from membership for the 50th anniversary.

    • Parade

      No report.

    • Phone Committee - Jill Gellatly

      No report .

    • Plant Sale - Barb Downey, Kate Agosta, Jill Gellatly, Roz Elson

      No venue, no date as of this meeting. Roz will look into possible locations and dates (Kettleby Fair, Nobleton Anglican Church Bazaar) and report at the August meeting. Roz and Jill will organize.

    • Program& Trip - Sandra Kirby, Jules Maule-ffinch, Roz Elson

      Field trip to Plant Paradise on Humber Station Road inCaledon followed by lunch at the Wishbone Restaurant afterwards. Date Thursday August 2nd.

  7. NEW BUSINESS

    1. Fiftieth anniversary Get a stand for the banner. Find long plastic banner holder [may be in cubby hole at hall]. Do we want Special project to commemorate our 50th? It may be possible to get a Trillium Grant to help with a large item , e.g. gazebo in Wellesey Park. Need ideas. Roz would help write the grant .
    2. 2007 OHA Convention. Kate and Barb are going as delegates Moved by John A and 2nd byTina that $500.00 be given to cover some costs of registrations fees ahotel 3 nights and gas. Passed
    3. Certain board members (names ?) aggreed to phone the board members who were not on-line (Kathy, Jeane and Maria) to keep them updated whenever an email is sent.
    4. District 15 AGM - We need a theme for the 2008 District meeting. Mary suggested "50 years of enhancing King Township”. Need to set up committees at next board meeting.

  8. NEXT BOARD MEETING

    Tuesday ,October 16 at 9:30 am at Anglican Church in Nobleton..
