WELCOME
President, Kate Agosta welcomed everyone to the 1st meeting
of the 2006 year and wished them a Happy New Year. She explained that
this year is the 100th anniversary of the Horticultural Association and that
it should prove to be an exciting one for our Society.

SECRETARY'S REPORT
Minutes of previous meeting - October 19, 2005 -
Moved by Blair Day - 2nd by Hans Neilson - Accepted.
Correction in the AGM minutes passed at the Banquet - Treasurer should read
Carol Field - not Kate Agosta.

TREASURER'S REPORT - Carol Field presented the report
- The balance in the Society's account was $2,116.75 as of Dec.
30/05. Moved by Carol and 2nd by Jean Keane.
- Carol will
apply to the OHA for a $100 memorial fund grant.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE - Tina Stone, Pat Platt, Maud Featherstone
- 81 members as of Dec/05
- New membership update to
be done for March meeting
- Betty Castatore and Carol Field
are life members and should be added in Show Book
SHOW AND JUDGING COMMITTEE - Barbara Downey
- Barb will ask Kathy Ball, Roz Elson & Jules Mauleffinch if they would
like to help on this committee .
- Point money was 5 cents off at the Awards Banquet - difference will be
given out at the March meeting.
- Blair Day made a motion that item #3 on page 6 of Year Book be deleted
effective 2006 year. 2nd by Maud Featherstone. Passed.
- Motion was amended to read - At the annual meeting, exhibitor prizes
for points will be awarded at the discretion of the Show Committee.
2nd by Barb Downey - passed.

PROGRAM & TRIP COMMITTEE - Carol Field, Sandra Kirby, Blair Day
- Please let the program committee know of any ideas you have for the
meetings
- 2006 meetings are scheduled for: March 27, April 24,
Victoria Day on May 22, May 29, Garden Tour on June 25, June 26, day trip
in July to be confirmed, August 28, September 25, October 23 & November 27
for AGM and Banquet.
- Would like to have a fall plant sale again
this year. Sale at the Lions auction will be looked into by Serena
Edmunds.
- List of program dates and speakers is needed by 3rd week
in January so the flyers and show books can be made.
FLYER COMMITTEE - Sandra Kirby
- Program needed by February 18th
- Serena Edmunds will make the flyer
- Sandra will look after getting the flyer printed - 500 flyers needed -
printer in Bolton possibly
- Hans needs all flyers for distribution when they are finished
GARDEN TOUR COMMITTEE - Maria Pedersen, John Lesey, Blair Day
- Garden Tour will take place on Sunday June 25, 2006.
- Jill Gellatly motioned that the Garden Tour price shouldl be $10.00
for 2006. 2nd by Hans Nielsen - passed
REFRESHMENT COMMITTEE - Jean Keane
- Jean will ask for someone to help her on this committee

PHONE COMMITTEE - Jill Gellatly
- A new phone list will be given to Captians. Jill will
update info. with Tina.

WEBSITE - www. altflora.com/nobleton. Kate Agosta.
- We discussed the option of using the OHA website instead of Kate's
website. Decided to stay with Kate's.
- Carol Hall to help

PLANT SALE - Kate Agosta, Barb Downey, Mary Watson, Blair Day
- Plant sales are to be scheduled for Victoria Day and in the fall
(Lions Auction?) .

VICTORIA DAY PARADE - John Lesey
- Carol to drive in the parade - John can still provide trailer if
needed.

VOLUNTEER HOURS COMMITTEE - Maud Featherstone
- Blair has new form and will give it to Barb to pass on.

SHOW BOOK COMMITTEE - Barb Downey, Kate Agosta, Mary Watson
- Add new Life Members to the book
- Let Kate know if there is a problem having your phone number printed
in the show book.
- Also let Kate know if there is a problem having your e-mail on the
website - if so an alias can be given.
- New show books will stay the same with a few small adjustments.

PUBLICITY & ARCHIVES - Hans Neilson, John Arnott

MEETINGS & SET-UP - John Lesey, Blair Day
- John has key. He will be available every month except October.
- John will look into getting one or two backdrops for taking pictures
of flowers.

FRONT YARD COMPETITION - Hans Neilson, Carol Fields, Blair Day

SPECIAL PROJECTS - to confirm who is on this committee
- Need to get members involved - will ask
at next meeting.
- It was suggested that each garden with its location and contact person
be included in the show book.
- Blair will help and will ask Sheila Jarvis to help as well.
- This should be coordinated with Lynda Rodgers and the township.

COMMUNITY IN BLOOMS - Lynda Rogers
- There have been 2 meetings held already. The Township is very
committed.
- Position of Horticulturist is to be added for the Township
- Plants for hanging baskets and buckets are being tendered with an
equitable distribution throughout the whole township
- Steve Pellegrini is on the committee this year
- 2 new gateways have been done - one in Schomberg and the other at
Wellington in Snowball.
- A new gateway at Bathurst and King is still to come.
- Front Yard Competition or Fab Fronts will be a subcommittee.

NEW BUSINESS
- Blair will complete the grant proposal and send it to Kate.
- Joan has
the info. for the Gladys Bible tree plaque and will look after it.
- Do we
have a Guest Day? Deferred to next meeting.
- There will be a $500.00
cap to be paid by the Society for those attending the Convention in Ottawa.
Need to know by next meeting who will be going.
- Past president needs to
prepare and send 20 lines of our Society's highlights to District 15 for the
Presidents meeting on Feb. 26/06. Hans will look after this.
Also needed are pictures for PowerPoint.
